Law requires that all employees who perform work that is especially difficult or hazardous to health and work which is restricted to a certain age are included in the SODPZ fund. Most of the persons insured by the SODPZ fund are: police officers, soldiers, railroad workers, miners, wardens, professional drivers, iron founders, textile industry workers, glassworkers, pilots, fire-fighters, foresters, chimney sweepers, ballet dancers, fishermen and others.

Employers of such workers are obligated to pay contributions into the fund as their inclusion in the SODPZ fund is compulsory. Employees themselves cannot pay in additional own funds into the fund.

Every member of the fund gets a personal account, where funds are collected and grow. One other advantage is that Kapitalska družba, as the fund managing company, guarantees for at least the guaranteed return on assets. So far, the actual return on assets of the fund has surpassed the guaranteed return, since prudent investing by Kapitalska družba leads to the growth of assets. The investment policy is aimed at safety, profitability, liquidity and diversification of investment so the investment risk is low.
